The world was covered by the white cap when Charles was waiting for his loved ones and
first star in the sky. It was snowing outside the window, the animals were hiding from the cold in
safe and warm places, and some of them fell into a winter hibernation. The winter came to the
England together with Christmas, and the whole world was drowning in snowy white.
Looking cheerfully at the dancing fire, Charles was sitting by the fireplace in the living
room. He was happy to see his brother and sister with her husband, with whom he spent the
Christmas Eve every year. They rarely had the opportunity to meet each other, each of them was
busy with work and everyday life, which is why today's evening was particularly special for the
jeweler, not only because of tradition, but also for the opportunity to spend time with family.
Preparations for Christmas took Charles all the way and he was loving this wonderful winter
period. Being a loner by nature, the jeweler had a lot of time to decorate the house. After work,
when he was coming back from the jewelry salon, he was making Christmas ornaments. The
entrance to the house was decorated with a garland of red baubles with a large ribbon, and above
the door there was a bow of coniferous twigs interwoven with red bows. The Christmas tree
wearing baubles, bows and lights stood next to the fireplace in the living room. The whole
Christmas image was complemented by a Christmas wreath standing on the table and poinsettias,
called the star of Bethlehem. Charles didn't forget to decorate with the garland even a balcony door
or the entrance to his jewelry store - everything in his home was reminding of upcoming holidays.
The gifts waited for the clients in Charles' store and each of the visitors could also take the latest
edition of the jewelry catalog, in which jeweler proposed his latest designs, ideal for gift for a loved
one. Every month, Charles was in the habit of arranging intimate parties for clients, during which he
presented the latest jewelry collections. On the first day of the Christmas holiday, the jeweler was
supposed to host his friends with whom he liked to spend time drinking Scotch whiskey during
conversations.
In the dining room where the Christmas Eve dinner was to be held, Charles prepared a richly
set table with dishes, surrounded by furniture in the style of Louis XVI. The jeweler adored art and
had a passion for history, which is why the walls were decorated with paintings in golden frames.
There was a porcelain collection on the dressers, and one could see the advent wreath in one corner
of the room. The Christmas spray was decorating the table covered with white tablecloth, on which
there was, among others, borscht with dumplings, carp and poppy seed cake. Charles prepared all
the dishes by himself - cooking them gave him great pleasure.
Sitting in his favorite quilted armchair, jeweler noticed that the first star appeared outside the
window, heralding upcoming guests. At the same moment there was a knock at the door. Charles
got up quickly and headed for the exit to welcome his loved ones. As soon as he opened the door, a
huge smile appeared on his face, and in his shining eyes could be seen emotion. Love and happiness
overwhelmed the jeweler, reminding him how much he loves this multigenerational tradition, which
connects family ties, allowing for spending time, full of reflection, together...
